I'm from the USA. How do I call Germany and how much money will it be?

I live in Kansas City, Kansas USA. How do I call Germany? What is the procedure? And how much money will it be? Do I pay with a credit card? Please fill me in.

The country code for germany is 0049, but to dial abroad from the US, you often need to dial 011 first.So, calling a number like 069 (preselection for Frankfurt) 55555 would be :
011 49 69 55555
(the zeros in 069 and 0049 are left out if theres sth. before it)
I’ve no clue, but when i was in Germany, i found it expensive just call up my friend who was living in Germany at the time. I find it much easier and cheaper just to email people in other countries.
